GIL Vicente

Gil Vicente was founded in Barcelos in 1924 and is named after the Portuguese playwright, the club having been formed near the theatre that carries his name. It first reached the Primeira Liga in 1990-91 and has twice finished fifth, in 1999-2000 and 2021-22. Once it was relegated by administrative decision and later restored the same way; it plays at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos.
