Maritimo

Club Sport Maritimo was established in Funchal on the island of Madeira in 1910 and is a multi-sport club with teams in volleyball, handball, roller hockey and athletics. Its one major football trophy is the Campeonato de Portugal of 1926, and in 1977 it became the first club from outside mainland Portugal to win promotion to the top division. Maritimo has since played more than forty Primeira Liga seasons and appeared nine times in the UEFA Cup or Europa League, and it has been runner-up in the Taca de Portugal twice.
