    Founded1873

Established in 1873 in the Lincolnshire town of Gainsborough, the club takes the Trinity in its name from the town's Holy Trinity church. It joined the Football League in 1893 and stayed in the Second Division until failing re-election in 1912, which makes Gainsborough one of the smallest English towns ever to have had a Football League club. It has played at the Northolme, one of the oldest grounds in the game, throughout, and now competes in the Northern Premier League.
