Founded1919
Leeds United were founded in 1919 after Leeds City was expelled from the Football League and wound up for making illegal payments to players, its assets sold at auction; the new club took over Elland Road. Under Don Revie in the late 1960s and early 1970s Leeds won two league titles, the FA Cup and two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, and a third championship followed in 1992, the last before the Premier League.
