Daejeon Citizen

Founded in 1997 as South Korea's first community-owned professional club, backed by the city and local businesses rather than a single corporation, and entering the K League the same year. On a small budget it won the Korean FA Cup in 2001, but otherwise spent much of its history in the lower half of the table and in the second-tier K League 2. On 24 December 2019 Hana Financial Group bought the operating rights and the club became Daejeon Hana Citizen, ending the citizen-club model.
