The Association Sportive des Forces Armees Royales was founded in 1958, two years after Moroccan independence, as the club of the Royal Armed Forces, and represents Rabat while based in Sale. Playing in black, it is one of three founder members of the Botola never to have been relegated. AS FAR has won thirteen league titles and twelve Throne Cups, and in 1985 became the first Moroccan club to win the African Cup of Champions Clubs, adding the CAF Confederation Cup in 2005.
