Celtic

Celtic was constituted in Glasgow in November 1887 to raise money for the poor of the city's largely Irish East End, and played its first match, against Rangers, in May 1888. In 1967 it became the first British club to win the European Cup, in a season in which it won every competition it entered, and under Jock Stein it took nine Scottish titles in a row. Celtic have won the Scottish championship a record 56 times and the Scottish Cup a record 43 times.
