Founded in 1901 as Amiens Athletic Club, the Picardy side repeatedly won the regional USFSA championship before 1914 and finished runner-up in the French championship in 1927, supplying seven players to the France national team. It turned professional in 1933, gave the status up in 1952, took the name Amiens Sporting Club in 1961 on joining the city's new omnisports club, and returned to professionalism in 1991. It reached Ligue 1 for the first time in 2017.
