UD Almería

UD Almeria was founded on 26 July 1989 as Almeria Club de Futbol and adopted its present name in 2001 while keeping the same federation registration. It first reached La Liga in 2007 and has since accumulated eight top-flight seasons, reaching the Copa del Rey semi-finals in 2011, where it lost to Barcelona. Owned since 2019 by the Saudi businessman Turki Al-Sheikh, the club plays at the stadium built for the 2005 Mediterranean Games.
