Groningen

FC Groningen was founded in 1971 as the successor to GVAV, taking over its place in Dutch professional football. Its highest finish was third in the Eredivisie in 1990-91, and it won the KNVB Cup in 2014-15. The club is known for developing players from its own academy, among them Ronald and Erwin Koeman, Arjen Robben and Virgil van Dijk, and plays at the Euroborg.
