Columbus Crew

Founded in 1994 as one of Major League Soccer's ten charter clubs and first played in 1996. It has won the MLS Cup in 2008, 2020 and 2023, three Supporters' Shields, the 2002 US Open Cup and the 2024 Leagues Cup. In 1999 it opened the first soccer-specific stadium built for an MLS team; an attempt to move the franchise to Austin in 2017-18 was defeated by the Save the Crew supporters' campaign and a new local ownership group, and the club moved to a downtown stadium in 2021.
