Sporting Gijon

Sporting were founded in 1905 in the Asturian port of Gijon and have played at El Molinon since 1908, on a site used for football since the 1890s and generally described as the oldest ground in Spanish professional football. The club reached consecutive Copa del Rey finals in 1981 and 1982 and finished second in La Liga in 1979. Its Mareo academy produced Quini, Luis Enrique, David Villa and Juan Mata.
