Paris Saint Germain

Paris Saint-Germain was founded on 12 August 1970 by the merger of Stade Saint-Germain with the newly formed Paris FC, the two parting company again in 1972. It won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1996 and had taken two league titles before the 2011 takeover by Qatar Sports Investments, after which it became the dominant force in French football with a record fourteen Ligue 1 titles and sixteen Coupes de France. It plays at the Parc des Princes and contests Le Classique with Marseille.
