Universitatea Craiova

Formed in 2013 and claiming to continue the Universitatea Craiova founded in 1948, the great side that was the first Romanian club to reach a European semi-final, in the 1982-83 UEFA Cup. The succession is genuinely disputed: court rulings and the professional league have supported the 2013 club, but FC U Craiova 1948, run by Adrian Mititelu and refounded in 2017 after being expelled from the federation in 2011, claims the same lineage, and the honours remain contested. The club won the Cupa Romaniei in 2018 and plays at the 30,983-seat Ion Oblemenco stadium.
