Besiktas

Besiktas was founded in Istanbul in 1903 and was the first officially registered sports club in Turkey, one of the few permitted to carry the Turkish flag on its crest. Its football team is one of the country's Big Three and has never been relegated, winning 21 national championships in all, including 16 Super Lig titles and an unbeaten campaign in 1991-92, plus 11 Turkish Cups. The club plays beside the Dolmabahce Palace at the stadium rebuilt in 2016 on the site of the old Inonu, and reached the European Cup quarter-finals in 1986-87.
