سالرنیتانا

The original Salernitana was founded on 19 June 1919 by a group led by Matteo Schiavone, and the club has been refounded three times since: in 1927 through a new association, and in 2005 and 2011 for financial reasons. The present company was created as Salerno Calcio in 2011 under the federation's sporting-tradition rule, took back the Salernitana name and colours and had to restart in Serie D, winning it at the first attempt. It has played five Serie A seasons, the first in 1947-48, and has otherwise always been in the top three divisions.
