کلرمون فوت

Created in 1984 as Clermont Football Club by the merger of two Clermont-Ferrand clubs then in Division 3, Stade Clermontois and AS Montferrandaise. Promotion to Division 2 in 1988 was followed by relegation and bankruptcy in 1990, after which the French federation allowed a restart in the top regional division under the name Clermont Foot, so the present club is a refoundation of the 1984 merger. It returned to Ligue 2 in 2003 and in 2021 became the first Auvergne club to reach Ligue 1; it plays at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied.
