Brescia Calcio was founded in 1911 and holds the Italian record for seasons spent in Serie B, winning that division four times, while its best top-flight finish was eighth in 2000-01 in the era of Roberto Baggio, Andrea Pirlo and Pep Guardiola. It won the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1994 and reached the Intertoto Cup final in 2001. The club failed financially and was wound up in 2025, its place in the city taken by a newly formed side.
