سال تأسیس1955
The club descends from Niigata Eleven Soccer Club, founded in 1955 by alumni of Niigata Meikun High School. As part of Niigata prefecture's bid to host 2002 World Cup matches it was turned professional, taking the name Albireo Niigata FC in 1995 after the double star in Cygnus; a trademark problem forced a change in 1997, and a public vote produced Albirex, joining Albireo with the Latin rex, "king". It represents every municipality in Niigata prefecture and entered the J.League in 1999.
