Founded on 26 March 1924 in Curitiba by the merger of International Foot-Ball Club and America Futebol Clube, the red and black Rubro-Negro plays at the Arena da Baixada, rebuilt in 1999 and again for the 2014 World Cup. It won the Brazilian championship in 2001 and the Copa do Brasil in 2019, and is the only club from Parana to have won official international titles, taking the Copa Sudamericana in 2018 and 2021. Since 2018 it has used the archaic spelling Athletico in its name and badge.
