Founded in 1884 by old boys of Wyggeston School as Leicester Fosse, after the Roman Fosse Way that runs past the ground, the club took the Leicester City name in 1919 when the borough became a city. City won the Premier League in 2016 having begun the season at 5,000-1, and the FA Cup in 2021. They left Filbert Street for a new stadium in 2002.
