Albacete Balompié

Albacete Balompie was founded on 1 June 1939 and plays at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte. Nicknamed the Queso Mecanico, the Clockwork Cheese, after a run under Benito Floro that took it from the third tier to seventh in La Liga in 1991, it spent four seasons in the top flight in the early 1990s and returned in 2003-04. It has otherwise been a second-division club for most of its history.
