بانیک اوستراوا

Founded in 1922 in a Silesian Ostrava pub as SK Slezska Ostrava, the club has carried the name Banik ("miner") continuously since 1952, reflecting the coal-mining district it represents. It has won four Czechoslovak and Czech league titles and five domestic cups. Home matches are played at the Mestsky stadion in Ostrava-Vitkovice, and its fiercest rivals are Sparta Prague, Karvina and Opava.
