AZ Alkmaar

AZ was formed in 1967 as AZ '67 by the merger of Alkmaar '54 and FC Zaanstreek, joining the city of Alkmaar with the Zaan district. It won the Eredivisie in 1980-81 and again in 2008-09 under Louis van Gaal, and reached the UEFA Cup final in 1981, losing to Ipswich Town. AZ has also won the KNVB Cup five times and plays at the AFAS Stadion.
