Formed in 1999 as an overbygning, a joint senior team of two neighbouring clubs, Ikast FS and Herning Fremad, so that it represents a whole region of central Jutland rather than one town. It won its first Danish championship in 2014-15 and added the title in 2017-18, 2019-20 and 2023-24, together with the Danish Cup in 2019. Home matches are played at the MCH Arena in Herning, its ground since 2004, and its fiercest rival is nearby Viborg FF.
