Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor was created in 1967 by the merger of several clubs in the Black Sea port of Trabzon and in 1976 became the first side from outside Istanbul to win the Turkish championship, taking six titles in nine seasons. A drought of 38 years followed before the seventh title arrived in 2021-22. The club has also won nine Turkish Cups and plays at the Senol Gunes Stadium, built on land reclaimed from the sea and opened in 2016.
