Botafogo

The present club comes from the 1942 merger of Club de Regatas Botafogo, a rowing club formed in 1894, with Botafogo Football Club, formed in 1904, and it is the oldest multi-sport club still active in Brazil. Its golden age ran through the 1950s and 1960s, and in 2024 it became one of only three Brazilian clubs to win the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian championship in the same season. The single white star on the black shirt gives it the name Estrela Solitaria, and it has played at the Estadio Nilton Santos, the Engenhao, since 2007.
