Port Vale

Port Vale were founded in 1876 and are one of very few English league clubs not named after a place, the name usually traced to Port Vale House in Longport, where the founding meeting is said to have been held. The club played as Burslem Port Vale until 1907, lost its League place in 1907 and regained it in 1919 by taking over the fixtures of the expelled Leeds City. Vale Park has been home since 1950.
