Portsmouth

Pompey were founded in 1898 by a group of local businessmen led by the brewer John Brickwood and have played at Fratton Park ever since. The club won consecutive league titles in 1949 and 1950 and the FA Cup in 1939, holding it for seven years because of the war, and again in 2008. Financial collapse followed: Portsmouth entered administration twice, fell from the Premier League to League Two in four seasons and was rescued by a supporters' trust in 2013.
